The number of unemployed Germans, a rare and dwindling species, declined again in February to remain at record lows.

The number of unemployed Germans fell by 10,000, in line with economists’ expectations. In January the number of unemployed Germans dropped by 19,000, which was revised down slightly from an initial estimate of 20,000.
The unemployment rate remained at the record low of 6.2 per cent it hit in February.
Whereas much of the eurozone has struggled with stubbornly high unemployment since the crisis, in Germany unemployment only rose slightly during the crisis, never topped 9 per cent, and has been declining steadily since 2009.
